Load Shedding

Load Shedding - What Is It?

Load shedding is the process of rationing a limited power supply among competing electrical demands. Interrupting power to a non-priority load allows continued service to priority demands. Such as hot water heating.

HOW IT WORKS

When hot water is needed, the Eemax water heater sends a signal to an enclosed device. The Electric Load Shedding device will delay activation of the tankless hot water heater for up to 20 seconds (adjustable). The Electric Load Shedding device will interrupt a signal from a low voltage device, (i.e., thermostat) disabling a non-priority load, (i.e., A/C, heat pump) from turning on while the water heater is in use. This sequence allows better utilization of existing electircal infrastructure and allow the use of 99% efficient electric tankless solutions from Eemax.
